Bookshelf Styling Guide

Bookshelf Styling Guide

Ever wondered how you could make the shelves in your home look like the ones styled by your favorite designer? We’ve gathered some of our favorite styled bookshelves below for some inspiration, as well as a few tips to guarantee stylish shelves.

If you’re a big reader and have a solid collection of books, use those! If you’d rather have some of your favorite art and objects on display, those are great, too. Can’t decide between the two? Mix it up! Using a combination of your favorite books, art, objects from around your home, and even a few plants gives an eclectic, yet collected look that expresses your personality & interests, as well as being candy for your eyes 😉 Let’s take a look at a few examples of these three different ways to style your bookshelves.

For the literature lovers: If you choose to fill your shelves primarily with books, that’s great, but it can easily look very static. Try stacking your books different ways (horizontal & vertical) for shelves with more movement & appeal.

If you have enough books lying around and color coordination is your thing, now’s your chance to go crazy

For the object lovers: If you don’t own a lot of books, or you have a lot of nice art and trinkets that you’d like to show off, here are some examples for youcb2 soleblch studiomcgee

Always remember- the phrase ‘less is more’ definitely applies to this sort of styling. It’s ok to see some white space!

For the mix & match lovers (and our favorite style):

We love the pops of color and pattern you can achieve by adding a couple of small vases & plants in your shelves.

Your vintage items that have just been sitting in the basement or in storage may now have a home- adding a few of these pieces is a great way to add character to your shelves!762cdbe95a01ab57578164eedca91530 em cocolap 415b386fbb64f82f65f695c3515561e0

Again, try stacking your books both horizontal & vertically for more visual appeal. If everything on your shelves are feeling like they’re all on the same level and you find yourself lacking taller objects, try stacking a couple of books horizontally and adding an object on top- this is a great way to fill up that empty vertical space.
