Peacock Alley Event Recap

Peacock Alley Event Recap

We had a wonderful time at our Peacock Alley event on Tuesday! If you were able to make it, thank you so much for coming, and if you weren’t, we missed you! Mary Ella Gabler, the founder of Peacock Alley, was such a delight to meet, and it was amazing to hear her story and how Peacock Alley came to be.

It all started with a patchwork pillow…

Mary Ella loved the art of patchwork, and after spotting a beautiful one on a shopping trip she thought to herself “I could make these!” Soon after, she started giving patchwork pillows to her friends, and when she kept getting such great feedback from everyone who saw them, she decided to try her hand at making a business out of selling them.

Her first large order came from none other than Nieman Marcus (not a bad first big client if you ask us!) who placed an order for 250 of her patchwork pillows. From there, she expanded her brand to include sheets, matelassés, duvet covers, and everything else that Peacock Alley offers today.

Peacock Alley is one of our favorite brands- everything they make is beautiful and the quality of the products they produce is outstanding. We also love their mission: “Simple luxury for a well-lived life”.

Peacock Alley now offers pajamas which are just as beautiful as their bed linens:

*Fun fact: The name of the company comes from the famed restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria: the Peacock Alley. Mary Ella was eating there one day and thought that it would be a great name for her brand!

*Pro-tip straight from the founder herself: When it comes to sheets, there’s no need to go above 500-600 thread count. According to Mary Ella, companies will strip the yarns used in making the sheets to make the thread count appear higher.

We had such an amazing time at the event, and if you’re interested in learning more about Mary Ella or Peacock Alley, be sure to check out her new book ‘Uncommon Thread’. It’s a great read and would make a wonderful mother’s day present!
