Trend Watch – Interior Trends for 2021

Happy New Year friends! We’re hitting the new year with some refreshed vision. We’ve been striving to stay inspired with new interior ideas + insights. We found this AD article and this trend report about what’s setting the scene for homes in the new year.

The stand-out concepts of what’s trending for 2021:

1. Home is all about Multi Function (Now more than ever!) … so layer the functionality along with the form. Carve out those multi-purpose places in your home with new focus + style.

2. Home Should Be Our Happy Place … so add some fun with art + accents; Add color + texture to boost your mood! We all need a little pick-me-up, don’t we? We’ll fill you in on the Pantone Colors of the Year and share our current obsession with some bold new kitchen trends.

Let’s Talk Multi-Function: Home plays so many roles currently. Not only is home the place to unwind, but it’s a regular classroom, exercise gym and work space. Here at ISABELLA we’re constantly re-purposing and re-inventing our personal homes to accommodate the ever-evolving needs of our families. How about you? What changes have you made lately to get the most from your home spaces?

We love how our friend Jess from Four Story Interiors created this chic multi-purpose living area – ready for a zoom call, intimate cocktail party or family game night …

Our owner + constant inspiration for all things interior Erin just recently completed this “we-shed” (think he-shed + she-shed) to meet their ever-growing home space needs …

It’s the perfect spot for watching football, working from home, stretching out a yoga mat or just taking a Saturday afternoon nap. We LOVE the way Erin brings the outside in (another 2021 trend) with this Dutch door opening views to her beautiful + bountiful garden.

Let’s Get Happy: Not only are our homes serving many functions, but in 2021 we all need our homes to bring us some happiness. Even in the midst of (+ especially because of) the crazy, our homes should spark joy. The trend in home decor for 2021 is incorporating overtly joyful shapes, organic curves and all kinds of whimsy. We just added new art + home accents in the shop which totally take us to our happy places, like these twisted hand-crafted candles in neon yellow, white or coral.

And can we just say, we’re crazy about the curvy mirror trend happening. Sign us up. More on the squiggle trend here.

We’re also pinning some of our faves, so follow along on our pinterest boards.

{If you want in, we’d love to snag a squiggle mirror for you.}

There’s nothing quite as sexy as curves, ami right? Check-out one of our dining designs that features some curvature goodness…

We also know how color and texture can move our moods + create all the good feels needed at the moment. The official Pantone Colors of the Year (Ultimate Gray + Illuminating Yellow) can work to ground and evoke optimism.

We’ve been brainstorming ways to give a nod to the 2021 Pantone colors, perhaps this playful wallpaper

Or some sun-kissed linen + lighting selections (some of our favorite ways to infuse color) …

FYI: We do custom pillows + always have a new assortment arriving.

Another color and texture trend for 2021 is seen in big + bold kitchen designs. We spotted some major inspo from this post by Em Henderson. Though bright white kitchens are here to stay, mixing in some deep moody greens and bold blacks are definitely making a style statement on the kitchen front, like these killer designs.

Which one is your favorite? (Play “This or That” with us on our Instagram stories today to share your picks.)

Also for 2021, designers are getting gutsy with huge, impactful choices, like full walls and ceilings of tile and texture. Plus checkerboard patterns aplenty. (See more kitchen trend inspiration here).

Whoa + Wow!!! Do you love these as much as we do? Do tell, what trend are you feeling for your home this year? Are you thinking of adding more Function, Form, or just plain Fun?

Fill us in on your new year home innovation plans. We’re always up for turning your inspiration into reality.

Wishing you a bright 2021.
